PM: Covid-19 Can No Longer Stop Us This Year

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has said that the Covid-19 pandemic is no longer an issue that can hinder Cambodia's ambitions, making this remark after successfully reopening the national sports competition.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the 3rd National Games and the 1st Paralympics Games on Monday evening, 21 November, at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that Cambodians have learnt how to live with Covid-19 so this disease can no longer prevent the opening of such major sporting events, and the Prime Minister himself was able to attend after testing negative for Covid-19 on Sunday, 20 November.

It should be noted that the national games are scheduled to be held every two years. The first was held in 2016 and the second in 2018. The third edition of the games was originally supposed to be held in 2020, however, the event was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
